French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer have announced plans to form a future force to ensure a ceasefire in Ukraine, EDnews reports.
Their press conference at the NATO command center in Northwood was broadcast by French media.
According to Macron, the number of the Franco-British joint expeditionary contingent, designed to become the basis of the international force to ensure a ceasefire in Ukraine, could reach 50,000 troops.
"We are increasing the number of these joint forces from the brigade level to the army corps level, that is, they can number up to 50,000 troops capable of being involved in a large-scale operation," the French leader said.
According to him, these forces will also be able to unite other European partners and be made available to NATO.
Starmer said that this coalition has a headquarters in Paris, which is already functioning and is completing the formation of management structures in agreement with Kyiv. The headquarters will be moved to London in a year.
The two leaders made the remarks after co-chairing a video conference of the 'coalition of the willing' nations, which also included US Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg.
