The President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, has signed a law that imposes fines for fake information on social networks, EDnews reports, citing Kyrgyz media outlets.
The issue concerns fake information that creates conditions for violating the rights and legitimate interests of citizens or organizations, or the interests of society or the state protected by law.
The fine will amount to 20,000 soms ($228.7) for individuals and 65,000 soms ($743.28) for legal entities.
On February 10, a law on fines for insults and slander on the internet came into force in Kyrgyzstan. The amount of these fines was also 20,000 and 65,000 som.
