Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said negotiations on a final agreement with the United States will not begin as long as threats against Iran continue, EDnews reports.
In a post on X, Araghchi cited paragraph 13 of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Tehran and Washington, stating that negotiations “will not commence” under continued pressure.
He also referred to the funeral ceremonies for Iran’s slain Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, saying “millions of proud Iranians” were taking part in the events.
“Neither them nor our Brave Armed Forces are moved by any threats,” Araghchi wrote, urging the United States to “honour your signature.”
His remarks came after US President Donald Trump said Washington would either reach a deal with Iran or “finish the job.”
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Monday, Trump said the United States retained the capability to strike Iran’s infrastructure if necessary.
“We can knock down their bridges in one hour, we can knock out their energy supply… They don’t have any money now. We haven’t given them any money,” Trump said.
The exchange highlights renewed tensions between Tehran and Washington as both sides remain divided over the future of negotiations.
Millions of proud Iranians rallied in unity to honor Grand Ayatollah Khamenei and his legacy. Neither them nor our Brave Armed Forces are moved by any threats.
