US President Donald Trump said he has instructed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to end trade relations with Spain, accusing Madrid of being a “terrible partner” within NATO, EDnews reports.
Trump made the remarks on Wednesday while speaking alongside NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte ahead of the alliance summit in Ankara.
The US president did not provide further details on what measures would be taken or how the proposed trade restrictions would be implemented.
The comments come amid ongoing discussions among NATO members over defence spending commitments and burden-sharing within the alliance.
