Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi criticized Taiwan's newly-inaugurated President Lai Ching-te as "disgraceful," intensifying Beijing's rhetoric following Lai's first day in office.
"The ugly acts of Lai Ching-te and others who betray the nation and their ancestors are disgraceful," China's foreign ministry cited Wang as saying.
Speaking at a Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting in Kazakhstan, Wang condemned Lai, a day after the Taiwanese president urged China to stop its military and political intimidation during his inauguration speech.
