Foreign Policy 11:11 01.05.2025

Activities are continuing in the direction of economic, cultural and strategic cooperation between Azerbaijan and African countries. At the last meeting held in Istanbul, the issue of the participation of Azerbaijani businessmen in the Turkey-Africa Business Forum and Exhibition, which will be held on June 25-26, was discussed.

According to EDnews approximately 2 thousand entrepreneurs from more than 40 countries are expected to participate in the forum. The Azerbaijani side will be represented at this event with an organizational pavilion.

The main focus in the development of relations with Africa is not only on the economic, but also on the technological and agricultural sectors. In this direction, participation in the Africa 2025 technology exhibition and the SIAM 2025 agricultural exhibition held in Morocco was ensured. During the events, the potential of African countries was studied on the spot and cooperation opportunities for Azerbaijani companies were assessed.

Since 2022, the Africa-Azerbaijan Trade Relations Organization has been actively participating in the Russia-Africa Humanitarian Forum held in Russia, as well as in various economic events organized in Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. Azerbaijan's economic and investment opportunities were presented on international platforms, and preliminary agreements on cooperation with chambers of commerce were reached.

The organization signed a memorandum of cooperation with the state of Chad within the framework of COP29, and negotiations have begun with Tanzania. At the same time, an online meeting was held with the African International Chamber of Commerce, and as a result of this meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding on mutual cooperation was signed. Also, during the meeting with the President of the Africa Business Council, Dr. Amany Asfour, trade missions, joint forums and opportunities for strategic partnerships were discussed.

Currently, the organization has established close cooperation relations with the embassies of Algeria, Sudan, Morocco and Egypt operating in Azerbaijan. A positive approach is demonstrated to the initiatives put forward by diplomatic missions and mutual support is expressed.

As for future plans, it is planned to organize an “Africa Week” in Azerbaijan in the fall of 2025. In addition to business forums, events in the cultural, educational, tourism and social spheres are planned to be held within the framework of the week.
