Elvin Hasanov, an IT expert, recently shed light on the potential dangers stemming from the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) during an interview with Ednews. While acknowledging AI's positive impact across various sectors like business, education, medicine, and entertainment, Hasanov emphasized the need to address the accompanying risks.

Hasanov highlighted how AI, particularly through deep learning techniques, enhances information security by detecting and analyzing sophisticated cyber threats. However, he cautioned that AI also introduces new vulnerabilities, enabling malicious actors to exploit its learning capabilities to bypass security measures. Hasanov cited the example of AI-driven botnets capable of automating and coordinating cyber attacks.

Despite AI's role in bolstering cybersecurity efforts, Hasanov stressed the importance of continuous development and adaptation by information security professionals to combat evolving threats effectively.

Contrary to fears of widespread job displacement due to AI, Hasanov argued that while it may reduce demand for labor in traditional fields, it simultaneously creates new job opportunities and industries. He asserted that human labor will remain indispensable despite technological advancements.

Regarding the illegal use of AI in Azerbaijan, Hasanov noted efforts by state institutions to combat its misuse, particularly in cases of fraud such as in gambling activities like roulette or lottery. However, he acknowledged a need for greater public awareness and education to mitigate risks associated with AI misuse, citing a lack of enlightenment among some segments of society.

While recognizing Azerbaijan's progress in addressing AI-related challenges, Hasanov underscored the importance of ongoing vigilance and collaboration to navigate the ethical and security implications of AI advancements.
