US Special Envoy for Iran Abram Paley visited Azerbaijan and held a number of important meetings. What is the essence of this visit at this sensitive time?

Tural Ismayilov, a political scientist, told Ednews that the visits of various US officials to the region are frequent, and this is not so surprising:

"Azerbaijan is one of the most important power factors in the region. Taking this into account, it is not so unexpected for us that US officials visit Azerbaijan and hold various meetings here. The main purpose of the visit is that today Azerbaijan is one of the main power centers of the South Caucasus. However, various lobby circles and different groups in the United States are doing their best to damage American-Azerbaijani relations. But despite all this, today there are many forces in Azerbaijan-US relations who know the value of our country and value Azerbaijan both for its geopolitical position and for the role it plays in Europe's energy security. From that point of view, Abram Paley is also the special representative of the United States on Iran. And Iran is a neighboring country to Azerbaijan. In this sense, it is quite natural for the US representative to come to the region and have some discussions here."
