The World Urban Forum, organized under the auspices of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, is one of the world’s most significant platforms for discussing sustainable urbanization, smart city initiatives, and the future of urban planning. By inviting Belarus to join the forum, Azerbaijan aims to enhance dialogue and exchange of best practices in areas such as green urban planning, infrastructure development, and resilient city systems.
According to EDnews, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has officially invited Belarus to participate in the upcoming World Urban Forum, which is set to take place in Azerbaijan.
The invitation was extended during a recent meeting between the Azerbaijani leader and Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko, as part of efforts to further strengthen bilateral relations and promote international collaboration on urban development issues.
President Aliyev highlighted Azerbaijan’s commitment to promoting sustainable urban growth, especially in the context of the post-conflict reconstruction and revitalization efforts in the liberated territories. He noted that the Forum will serve as a valuable opportunity for countries like Belarus to share experiences, explore joint projects, and contribute to global urban development goals.
