The State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources under Azerbaijan's Ministry of Energy and China Datang Overseas Investment Co. Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the development of a green energy corridor, EDnews reports, citing the ministry.

The memorandum envisages cooperation in ensuring the safe connection of Azerbaijan's electricity generation capacities created through renewable energy sources to the electricity grid and in implementing reliable and stable transmission of this energy.

According to the document, cooperation will be established with China Datang Overseas Investment Co. Ltd. in the field of technical and financial support for the application of the company's technical capabilities and system research on the development of the electricity grid, as well as the involvement of Chinese companies with rich experience in the design, engineering and construction management of HVDC projects.

Moreover, a meeting was held between Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, who is on a visit to China, and Chairman of China Datang Corporation Liu Jun. During the meeting, it was noted that Chinese companies are among the main partners of Azerbaijan's green energy course and interest in further expanding this cooperation was expressed.

It was emphasized that the joint statement signed during the state visit of the President of Azerbaijan to China in April of this year encourages active cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources and joint promotion of the formation of a global partnership in the field of clean energy. In this regard, the importance of the agreements signed with Chinese companies, including China Datang Overseas Investment Co. Ltd, in the field of renewable energy was discussed.

During the meeting, Azerbaijan's green energy projects, the development of offshore wind energy and the implementation of solar power plant projects in cooperation with the company, as well as potential areas of cooperation, were discussed.

During the meeting, a training program was also launched for Azerbaijani energy sector specialists. The program aims to familiarize them with advanced practices in the fields of network management, submarine cable projects, floating solar technologies and battery energy systems. The training also includes practical excursions and visits to various energy facilities.
