The cube satellite jointly developed by Azerbaijan, Turkey and Kazakhstan may in the future arouse interest in other member and observer states of the Organization of Turkic States.
EDnews informs that this was stated by TTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliyev at the 4th meeting of the space agencies of the TTS countries held in Baku.
According to him, the project to create a joint “CubeSat” satellite has become the main direction of cooperation in the space field: “Since the presentation of the initiative at the first meeting, the project has been developing continuously and consistently.”
K. Omuraliev said that at the second meeting in Tashkent, the parties confirmed their support for the project and agreed to establish a Steering Committee consisting of two technical experts and one technical manager from each participating and observer country: "The discussions continued at the third working meeting held in Baku on October 4, 2023 within the framework of the 74th International Astronautical Congress, as well as at the online meeting of experts on October 26. At the fifth meeting held in Astana on July 9-10, 2024, a consensus was reached on the general roadmap for the next stage of the satellite's development. Today, we are waiting for reports from the delegations on the current status of this flagship project. The Secretariat is confident that in the next stages, the initiative will also be of interest to other TDT member countries. For now, we continue to work with the participants already involved."
