The number of international students was approaching 4,300 in 2020. Today, our international students studying at the Moscow campus represent 29 countries. This diversity, combined with an English-language academic environment, has transformed the university into one of the leading platforms for multiculturalism and innovation.
According to EDnews, these remarks were made by Professor Adalat Muradov, Rector of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC), during the panel discussion titled “Youth Without Borders: Advancing Shared Regional Prosperity” held as part of the Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group in Baku.
He noted that in April, a creative course was developed within the framework of the Silicon AI Projects division, bringing together international students, new academic programs, faculty members, and foreign students.
“These opportunities are part of our broader vision to make education more flexible, transparent, and accessible. We are also integrating digital science and artificial intelligence into teaching, research, governance, and student support services. We are prepared to strengthen cooperation with leading global data providers, support the advancement of scientific activities, and facilitate the preparation of research publications. This represents an important step toward enhancing the university’s position and voice in the international higher education arena.
When we speak of ‘Youth Without Borders,’ we refer to young people who can study in different countries, move between universities, access modern tools, benefit from global knowledge, participate in research, and transform their ideas into innovation. We are talking about a generation that is ready to meet the demands of the labor market and capable of shaping the future. This is an extremely important field. When we discuss higher education, we are talking about a sector that drives development, progress, and innovation,” he added.
