Chairman of the Confederation, Sahib Mammadov, spoke about the favorable democratic environment in the country, which enables effective operation of trade unions and the protection of labor rights. He emphasized the state’s continuous support in this field.A meeting was held at the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan with members of the Labor and Social Policy Committee of the Milli Majlis.
It was noted that comprehensive measures are being taken to protect the labor, social, and economic rights of union members, as well as to create healthy and safe working conditions in accordance with advanced international standards. Efforts to improve the functioning of sanatorium and resort facilities for treatment and rest purposes are also ongoing.
Speaking about structural and personnel reforms within AHIK, and the increasing role of women and youth in the trade union system, the chairman presented several new initiatives to the deputies, including “AHIK Volunteers,” “Decent Work Ambassadors,” “From Colleague to Colleague with Care,” and “Run Towards Health.” He also noted the establishment of the “Kurort” Tourism Information Center for centralized issuance of resort vouchers and the ongoing process of full digitalization.
The importance of expanding cooperation with the Labor and Social Policy Committee and the contributions it would make to the development of the trade union system were discussed during the meeting.
Video presentations were shown, highlighting AHIK’s activities and the implementation of projects such as “Decent Work Ambassadors,” “From Colleague to Colleague with Care.''
Chairman of the committee, Musa Guliyev, praised the reforms and innovations carried out by the Confederation. He emphasized the crucial role of trade unions in regulating labor relations and in the development of civil society in the country. He also noted the work being done to improve the legislative framework in the social sphere and stressed the importance of further developing cooperation with AHIK in protecting labor rights.
Afterwards, the opening ceremony of AHIK’s newly established Occupational Safety and Legal Assistance Center was held, attended by representatives of state institutions and members of parliament.
At the event, Confederation Chairman Sahib Mammadov provided detailed information about the duties and operational directions of the new center. He noted that labor inspectors will respond to inquiries from union members, provide legal assistance regarding labor relations, and carry out awareness-raising activities.
Speakers at the event including Musa Guliyev, Chairman of the Labor and Social Policy Committee of the Milli Majlis; Deputy Minister of Economy Sahib Alakbarov; Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Vusal Nasirli; and MP Ziyad Samadzade – emphasized the importance of the Confederation’s new initiatives and innovations, recognized their contribution to the country’s social policy, and wished success to the newly established center.
Following the ceremony, participants toured the Occupational Safety and Legal Assistance Center and were also introduced to the activities of the “Kurort” Tourism Information Center located in the same facility.
