The European Union should follow the lead of its Western allies and impose sanctions on the far-right members of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet, Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard said in an interview with Politico, according to EDnews.
"We are taking the next step to push for sanctions against individual extremist-minded ministers," she said.
Earlier, Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, and Norway announced restrictive measures against Israel's Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. The sanctions, imposed for inciting violence against Palestinians, primarily include travel bans and asset freezes.
