In the first two months of 2022, Azerbaijan recorded a remarkable 26.5% year-on-year growth in its processing industry, according to Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov. This significant increase reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to stimulate non-oil economic sectors and diversify the national economy.
In January-February 2022, Azerbaijan saw 26.5% annual growth in the processing industry, which is one of the priority sectors in the development of the country’s non-oil sector, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov said, EDnews informs.
The processing industry, which encompasses a broad range of manufacturing activities—including food production, chemical processing, metallurgy, textile manufacturing, and construction materials—is considered one of the key priority areas in Azerbaijan’s long-term development strategy. The sector not only contributes to industrial output but also plays a critical role in job creation, technological advancement, and export potential.
Minister Jabbarov highlighted that this growth is the result of consistent reforms aimed at improving the investment climate, supporting entrepreneurship, modernizing industrial infrastructure, and encouraging innovation in production. He noted that targeted government programs and strategic partnerships with the private sector have begun to yield tangible results in terms of economic performance and industrial capacity.
