Sharing Azerbaijan's experience in the field of green energy with the member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) is yielding great results, Tahir Mirkishili, a member of Azerbaijan's Parliament, said at today's parliamentary meeting, EDnews reports.
According to Mirkishili, ECO is the most influential economic organization in the region:
"With a population of 570 million and an economic power of $2.6 trillion, the members of the organization have significant power and potential, especially in economic relations between the East and the West. This was the third time that Azerbaijan organized the ECO summit. However, the event was of particular importance because it was held in Karabakh. This choice of Khankendi as a host had a multi-layered symbolic meaning. After a long conflict, an international summit was held in Khankendi for the first time. This, in addition to strengthening the sovereignty of our country, demonstrated to the international community the efforts of the Azerbaijani president for peace and reconstruction in Karabakh. The event also made a great contribution to strengthening the authority of Azerbaijani diplomacy in the post-war peace process," the MP said.
He noted that Azerbaijan, which is ahead of everyone else in a challenging process such as green energy transition, is willing to share its experience with member countries: "At a time when wars are flaring up in the North and South, the voice rising from Khankendi on a platform where the Middle Corridor passing through Azerbaijan, the Zangazur corridor, and the issues of Western Azerbaijanis returning to their homeland have come to the agenda, has been an open message to the whole world."
