Teachers and students of the Heydar Aliyev School in Kahramanmaraş were eagerly awaiting the completion of the construction of this educational institution, which will accommodate about 1,500 children.
EDnews reports that, this was stated in the material of the Turkish “Sabah” newspaper about the “Azerbaijan” neighborhood in Kahramanmaraş.
The publication’s correspondents spoke with teachers and students of the school, which was built with the support of the Azerbaijani government on the site of the Sezai Karakoç primary school destroyed by the earthquake. The opening of the school took place in September last year with the participation of the education ministers of the two brotherly countries.
Emphasizing that the construction of the school building was completed in a short time, the newspaper reports that the modern educational institution has 20 classrooms, three laboratories, three rooms for the preparatory department, as well as studios and workshops.
Dicle Baran Taşdemir, a teacher at the school, said that after the earthquake, he temporarily worked at a nearby educational institution. He added: “We were constantly observing the construction of the Heydar Aliyev School from the window of that school. We enjoyed every stage of the project. It is gratifying that the construction was completed quickly. Everything is going very well for us. New houses have been built in the neighborhood, people have gained hope, and we have made new friends.”
School student Eylul Asya Peker admitted that she was happy to study at the Heydar Aliyev School.Another student, Erkan Can, noted that he liked the new school very much.The newspaper writes: “In general, 2,122 buildings are planned to be commissioned in the neighborhood, including 1,323 apartments, 799 offices and commercial facilities. The large-scale project is nearing completion.”
The works carried out by the Azerbaijani government in the "Azerbaijan" neighborhood are estimated at $100 million. The executive body of the Azerbaijani government within the project is the State Housing Construction Agency.
