The Malaysian Chess Federation will hold a chess tournament on May 17 to mark the 102nd anniversary of the birth of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev.
“EDnews” reports that the event, which will be organized in cooperation with the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Malaysia, has been attracting the attention of all chess players for the third year.
The tournament will consist of 7 rounds according to the Swiss system. Each game will be played for 15 minutes and an additional 10 seconds per move. The games will be played in the rapid chess format. The tournament is included in the official FIDE calendar.The Federation has allocated a prize fund of 7,500 Malaysian ringgit, including 1,000 for the winner of the men's open division and 800 for the winner of the women's division.
There will also be 10 main prizes in each division and additional prizes for and veterans over 50 years of age, as well as players with disabilities.Male players with a FIDE rating of 2100 and above, as well as female players with a rating of 1900 and above, are invited to participate in the tournament for free.
