Azerbaijan is set to host the 3rd Commonwealth of Independent States Games from September 28 to October 8, 2025. The event will take place in Ganja, designated as the “Sports Capital of the Commonwealth” for 2025, along with six other cities: Yevlakh, Mingachevir, Gabala, Sheki, Goygol, and Khankendi.
EDnews inform that A total of 23 sports disciplines are scheduled, with participation expected from athletes beyond the CIS countries.
The official mascots for the Games have been revealed as “Bəbir” and “Leyla”.These mascots symbolize Azerbaijan’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty, aiming to foster a sense of unity and national pride among participants and spectators.
Preparations for the Games are progressing, with the Ganja Sports Palace, a key venue, having been inaugurated in April 2024. This state-of-the-art facility is expected to host various competitions during the event.
The 3rd CIS Games are anticipated to enhance regional cooperation, promote sports development, and showcase Azerbaijan’s commitment to hosting international sporting events.
