Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan on Friday on the sidelines of the Informal Summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OTS held in Shusha, Ednews informs, citing Azerbaijan’s MFA.

The meeting discussed issues arising from the existing allied relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, cooperation within multilateral formats, as well as regional and international security issues.

It was emphasized that joint projects and achieved developments in the political, security, economic, energy, communications, and humanitarian aspects of the Azerbaijan-Türkiye alliance have made significant contributions to regional stability and cooperation.

It was stressed that the current high-level political dialogue between the leaders of the two countries, as well as the regular visits and contacts of the representatives of relevant state institutions and legislative bodies played a key role in the development of the alliance.

It was noted with satisfaction that the city of Shusha, where the Shusha Declaration was signed, strengthening the allied relations based on brotherhood, friendship and solidarity between the two countries, hosts the informal Summit of the OTS.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov spoke about the significant place of the Turkic world and the OTS in Azerbaijan’s foreign policy, expressing hope that the Summit will be remarkable with the adoption of documents and decisions contributing to the development and strengthening of cooperation within the framework of the organization.

The importance of intensifying cooperation within the framework of other regional and international organizations in addition to the OTS, including various multilateral formats, was highlighted.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed the Turkish counterpart in detail about the current regional situation during the post-conflict period, the large-scale restoration and construction works carried out in the liberated territories, mine action measures, as well as the state of the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

He pointed out that the challenges facing the peace process, including the ongoing claims against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan and the claims in the Armenian Constitution, the steps that threaten regional stability by contributing to the militarization of Armenia by third countries, are still remaining.

At the meeting, opinions were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
