"A day after the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen also called the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. Thus, both officials - Blinken and Leyen - will meet with the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan in Brussels and announce the plan to support Armenia. found it necessary to inform".
These words were said in a statement to Ednews by political scientist Elkhan Sahinoglu.
He said that the difference was noticed in the phone conversation between Blinken and Leyen with Ilham Aliyev:
"At the beginning of the phone conversation, Blinken spoke about the Brussels meeting and said that there is no reason for Azerbaijan's concern, and after that he touched on the continuation of close cooperation between Washington and Baku. On the other hand, Leyen, on the other hand, first talked about the increasing cooperation between the European Union and Azerbaijan in various fields, and then voiced his opinion about the meeting in Brussels. Ilham Aliyev said that Azerbaijan is committed to cooperation with both the USA and the EU, adding his critical views on the Brussels meeting, reminding that it will cause tension.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey published the same statement.
"Washington and Brussels are aware of Baku's concerns. If Brussels talks about economic support to Armenia, it will not concern Azerbaijan, and if promises of security and military assistance are made to Armenia, it will have a negative impact on the situation in the region. The choice is between Washington and Brussels. France's mistake must not be repeated."
