The body of Bulgaria's former monarch, King Ferdinand I, is set to return to his homeland within the next month.
According to Ednews, citing information from odatv and Sega, a prominent Bulgarian newspaper, the remains of King Ferdinand I will soon be repatriated to Bulgaria.
The final resting place of King Ferdinand I has been in the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Coburg, Germany, where he passed away in 1948. However, due to the political landscape of the time, marked by the end of the monarchy in Bulgaria and the rise of communist rule, his body remained in Germany, unable to be brought back to Bulgaria for burial.
Now, with the opportunity at hand, arrangements are being made for the former ruler's remains to be transported to Bulgaria. Once returned, King Ferdinand I will be laid to rest in the royal cemetery at the Varna Palace, marking a significant moment in Bulgarian history and symbolizing the nation's reverence for its past monarchs.
This poignant homecoming underscores Bulgaria's efforts to honor its historical legacy and pay tribute to its leaders of yesteryears. Stay tuned for further updates as Bulgaria prepares to welcome back King Ferdinand I to his rightful resting place.
