As part of his official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister, met with Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of Bahrain Shura Council.During the meeting, discussions revolved around the possibilities of enhancing and continuing Azerbaijan-Bahrain interparliamentary cooperation, as well as regional and international security matters of mutual interest.

The sides emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, reciprocal visits and exchanges between parliamentarians in further promoting bilateral and multilateral relations based on friendship, brotherhood, mutual respect and understanding between the two countries, as well as strengthening the ties between the two peoples.

The parties hailed the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Bahrain on platforms such as the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Non-Aligned Movement.

J.Bayramov expressed gratitude for the support provided by Bahrain to the Parliamentary Network established within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement of Azerbaijan, as well as for the successful organization of the 2nd conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network in Manama.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided insight into the current situation in the region during the post-conflict period, the large-scale restoration and reconstruction efforts carried out by Azerbaijan in the liberated territories, the efforts to combat the landmine mine jeopardizing this reconstruction, as well as the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process.

The minister highlighted the progress achieved within the framework of bilateral normalization and peace negotiations, which had been advanced by the initiative and efforts of Azerbaijan, adding that negotiations on the text of the peace agreement had been completed. The FM also emphasized that the territorial claims against Azerbaijan still existing in the Constitution of Armenia, as well as in a number of legislative acts, obstruct regional peace efforts.
