On April 23, 2025, a significant signing ceremony took place in Beijing with the participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Chinese President Xi Jinping. EDnews inform that during the event, the two leaders signed a Joint Statement on the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the People’s Republic of China.

In addition to the Joint Statement, a series of bilateral agreements and memoranda were signed, covering various areas of cooperation. An agreement between the governments of Azerbaijan and China on mutual exemption of visa requirements for holders of ordinary passports.A memorandum of understanding between Azerbaijan’s Mine Action Agency and China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to strengthen cooperation in humanitarian demining. An agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters between the two countries.

An agreement between the governments on technical and economic cooperation. A protocol between Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Science and Education and China’s Ministry of Science and Technology on cooperation in science and technology.A memorandum of understanding between the Ministries of Justice of both countries to enhance cooperation.A protocol between the Ministries of Culture for cultural cooperation from 2025 to 2029. A memorandum of understanding between Azerbaijan’s Intellectual Property Agency and China’s National Intellectual Property Administration.
   
Memoranda between the Ministries of Economy and Commerce on deepening bilateral cooperation in free trade and strengthening investment cooperation in the digital economy.Agreements Xinhua News Agency, and between Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting CJSC and China Media Group.
