Moldovan Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu discussed energy cooperation issues in Baku with Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and representatives of SOCAR management.
EDnews reports, according to a press release of the Moldovan Ministry of Energy, during negotiations with Azerbaijani representatives, Junghietu discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of renewable energy (RES) and the implementation of strategic regional projects.
"The parties reviewed prospects for cooperation with SOCAR on the supply of oil products and natural gas to Moldova on competitive terms, as well as the possibility of attracting Azerbaijani investments into the republic"s energy sector," the ministry said in a statement.
It was also noted that regional projects in green energy were discussed with the Azerbaijani side, including the Azerbaijan–Georgia–Romania–Hungary Green Energy Corridor.
"Moldova has reaffirmed its interest in attracting investment into projects implemented in accordance with European standards, including energy efficiency, modernization of heating systems, and the introduction of innovative energy technologies," the statement said.
Junghietu also took part in events in Baku as part of Baku Energy Week.
"During the plenary ministerial session dedicated to international cooperation in building a sustainable and diversified energy future, the minister presented Moldova"s experience in strengthening energy security and diversifying supply sources," the ministry noted.
