According to statistics, the flow of tourists to Azerbaijan has increased by more than 39%. The increase in the number of tourists stimulates the development of the country's infrastructure. What are the main factors that attract tourists to the country?

Tourism expert Jeyhun Ashurov, who spoke to Ednews on the subject, said that last year was a recovery year for tourism:

"The number of tourists in Azerbaijan increased sharply last year. 2023 was considered as the year of restoration of tourism not only in Azerbaijan, but also in all countries of the world. In that year, 95% of world tourism was restored. This growth is expected to continue in Azerbaijan in the next ten years. Although our land borders are closed, there has been an increase in the number of tourists coming to the country.

Of course, at present, arrival is mainly by air. Therefore, Azerbaijan is trying to facilitate the visa process. In this regard, embassies and airports have additional responsibility."

The expert also spoke about the need to implement some projects for the development of tourism in Azerbaijan.

"I think that it is very important to start operating cheap air transport at airports outside of Baku in the future. The accessibility of vehicles can enable tourists to travel to all regions of the country. This will also increase the number of visitors to the country.

The presence of recreational resources in different regions can bring the country's tourism potential to the fore. The fact that these resources are located only in limited areas creates an obstacle for tourism. Creating modern infrastructures without damaging historical monuments is considered the most brilliant activity for tourism in every country."
