Under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the 28th International Festival of World Sacred Music kicked off on Friday in the spiritual capital of Morocco, Fez. Azerbaijan is participating in this cultural event alongside several countries from around the world.
The Republic of Azerbaijan was represented at the opening ceremony presided over by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa by the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Morocco, Nazim Samadov, who was accompanied by several ambassadors to Morocco who greeted the Moroccan Princess.
The Fez Festival of World Sacred Music, which began with a tribute to Africa and Italy, brings together more than 200 artists from 15 countries, including a group of Azerbaijani musicians who will present several performances of traditional Azerbaijani music under the direction of Sahib Pashazadeh, Director of the Azerbaijan International Mugham Center.
On this occasion, Nazim Samadov told EDnews in Morocco that he was delighted with Azerbaijan’s participation in this international festival, recalling the distinguished visit of Moroccan Princess Lalla Hasnaa to the Republic of Azerbaijan, which included a rich cultural program and left a positive impression.
Samadov added that the Fez Festival of World Sacred Music is an excellent opportunity for the Republic of Azerbaijan to showcase its culture and traditions, noting that this is not the country's first participation in this world-renowned artistic and cultural event.
The ambassador also noted that, on the occasion of the visit of the Director of the Mugham Center of Azerbaijan, a meeting is planned between him and the management of the Fez Festival to sign a memorandum of understanding, with the aim of strengthening the Moroccan-Azerbaijani partnership in the artistic and cultural fields.
