A spectacular fireworks show took place in New York on the occasion of the US Independence Day.
EDnews reports that this year's event coincided with the 400th anniversary of New York City.
The magnificent show was held from four separate platforms located along the Brooklyn Bridge and the East River. About 80,000 rockets were launched into the sky during the night, and colorful and technologically rich visual effects were used during the show.
The event was watched by millions of viewers through monitors installed in various parts of the city, as well as live broadcasts on local television channels.
At night, the city's huge buildings were painted in the colors of the US flag. Security measures were strengthened by the city administration and law enforcement agencies, and traffic was restricted on central streets. Special open observation zones were allocated for those who came to watch the event.
The US celebrates the 249th anniversary of its independence. On July 4, 1776, the cause of American liberty was enshrined in ink when 56 patriots gathered in what is now known as Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to sign the Declaration of Independence.
