The management of C and Ku frequency bands served by Azerspace-1 satellite situated in the orbital position of 46°E (east longitude) is registered in the name of the Azerbaijan government, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan told Ednews.
The registration is approved by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The Azerspace-1 telecommunication satellite launched in 2013 operated in C and Ku frequency bands of 46°E orbital position which belongs to the Malaysian administration. The transfer of those frequency bands to the name of Azerbaijan means that the Azerspace-1 satellite is functioning in the unique orbit of Azerbaijan, not Malaysia.
As a result of these transfers, among the countries with limited resources such as the geostationary belt, Azerbaijan already has a say with its unique orbital position.
