Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is currently looking to replace incumbent Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov and has several candidates for the position, according to the Ukrainska Pravda (UP) reported on Aug. 10, citing sources in the government, Ednews reports citing Yahoo news.
The article says that the issue of Reznikov's resignation has recently been discussed, advancing from "theoretically possible to practically possible."
According to the report, amidst a series of scandals in early February, the resignation of the current Defense Minister was already being debated. Then, Ukrainian Military Intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov was a candidate for the position.
UP added that Reznikov once "expressed a desire to work as Justice Minister, but refused the position of Minister of Strategic Industries – so in February everyone stayed in their places."
Currently, Zelensky has again started the search for Reznikov's replacement. The media underscore that the government has already had talks with two people about this topic. The first is Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov, and the second is Ukraine’s Minister for Strategic Industries, Oleksandr Kamyshin.
